Lying Liars and the Lies that they Lie

So this morning the World, and the Home Counties rise to sound of benifecence wafting from the Tory Party HQ [somewhere in London [probably close BBC Radio 4 & the WI]], David Cameron is offering "A Good Life for All". Now I am usually a cynic but surely he could not blatantly lie at the launch of his party's manifesto? Could he?

"A future government would go further" he said, "by passing a law to ensure that anyone working 30 hours on minimum wage rates would continue to pay no income tax."

Um .....

A basic understanding of arithmetic, the minimum wage, basic taxation, and a little rough calculation will tell you that a person earning the full National Minimum Wage [£6.50] for 30 hours a week over the course of a year would recieve just less than £9,500 [before National Insurance], which is quite less than the annual Personal Tax Allowance of £10,600!

So are they going to bring in a new law for something which is already law? I think an easier law which would "ensure that anyone working 30 hours on minimum wage rates would continue to pay no income tax." is the one that keeps down the minimum wage so that these people never go above the personal allowance.

But surely the Tories would not do that.

Water Polo

I, like most people, know little of water polo at the highest level.

Yes, I have read of Eastern Europeans growing, then sharpening their toenails to cut the opposition, and I have read of players booting the opposition in the knackers.

But that is nothing to do with anything, back in the 1980s I was a member of Falkirk Water Polo club, just a member, never played for the team.

What I am saying is basically, if I was so bad for an inconsequential side then how good do you have to be to play regional level Water Polo?
